Should You Buy an Energizer Solar Power Generator?

Do you want a mid-range, versatile solar power station with a reliable brand name that you can trust? The Energizer Solar Power Generator is not only multi-purpose, but it is high-powered, high tech and convenient to use.

What Makes the Energizer Solar Generator a Top Pick?

The Energizer Solar Generator has several features that make it one of the top solar generators on the market. In short, you use it for all sorts of activities at home or while traveling. Plus, its high-tech design makes it super simple to use, even for the novice. Let’s take a look:

1. High-Capacity Battery:

First of all, this generator has a higher 2,000 watt capacity, which enables it to store more power than say a 1,000 watt product.

Use it to run lights, a hair dryer, coffee maker, laptop computer, microwave, portable fridge and more. Your back-up power source lasts longer, plus you don’t have to re-charge it as often.

2. Durable Construction:

These rugged units are designed for both indoor and outdoor use, so you can comfortably take them camping, to tailgaters, the beach etc..

3. Portable Design:

Although not considered lightweight, the 66-pound power station is easy enough to carry to one location to another. Plus, it’s designed to be used in different locations with its various re-charging options.

4. Lots of Life Cycles:

This unit can be re-charged 2,000+ times in its lifetime, making it a long-lasting investment, even if you use it every day of the year.

5. Multiple Charging Options:

Get the versatility of AC and DC outlets as well as USB ports and even convenient charging pads. In addition, you can charge up to 17 devices at once and power appliances while the generator is recharging via solar or your vehicle.

6. Brand Reputation:

Energizer is a well-known, reliable brand that customers trust, particularly in the battery arena. Many people appreciate this factor if they plan to use their power station as an emergency backup power source.

Note: This size generator is not designed to power a freezer, full-size refrigerator, washer, dryer, etc.. For these larger appliances, or to set up a whole house solar backup system, check out EcoFlow Delta Systems.

Ways to Use the Energizer Portable Power Station:

  1. First of all, you can use this compact generator to charge ell sorts of electronic devices while you are away from home. For example, laptops, camera, drones, phones, tablets, headsets, etc..
  2. Second, you can enjoy modern conveniences on your camping trip, like your coffee maker, hot plate, hair dryer, lights, sewing machine and more. Yes, I said sewing machine.
  3. Third, use your corded power tools in remote locations. Now you don’t have to rely on having all cordless tools if you are in a location that doesn’t have a power outlet.
  4. Fourth, relax, knowing that you have a backup battery if your home’s power goes out temporarily during a storm or natural disaster. You can still turn on lights, cook dinner, work on your computer, watch movies, etc..
  5. Fifth, run medical devices like CPAP machines, whether the power is out at home or you are camping. Again, less stress and more freedom.
  6. Sixth, operate small water pumps and irrigation systems in remote areas.

Note: A nifty feature of portable generators is that they can act as an emergency Tesla charger. Although small (and not fast-charging like a Tesla Supercharger), the Energizer 2000-watt generator can actually supply the car enough battery power to drive up to 9 miles.

Which Solar Panels Should You Get – 100W, 200W, 400W, More?

You can get the Energizer solar generator by itself or bundled with a 100-watt or 200-watt solar panel. However, I wasn’t able to get details on the panels themselves except that they do have MC-4 cables. (Therefore, you can opt to buy another brand of standard MC-4 panels instead, see below.)

A 100 watt panel can work fine for powering the power station to use for laptops, small electronics, cameras, etc.. However, you can achieve faster charging and more solar for the money with at least 200 watts if you want to use your generator with multiple higher-powered appliances. That said, you can add more solar panels at a later time if you find that you need them.

Monocrystalline VS Polycrystalline Solar Panels:

You can connect up to 900 watts of solar to the generator, so if you want more solar power, you can purchase 400-watt panels from AllPowers on Amazon. Right now they are offering the best price deal, on folding MC-4 panels. Plus, they have a high 22% efficiency rate, waterproof and a durable ETFE coating.

Note: The benefits of ETFE coating are (1) extra durability in outdoor environments like rain, wind or sun, (2) optimal transparency to allow more sunlight through, and thus more efficient energy collection, (3) light weight, flexible and easy to carry and (4) easy to wipe clean.

The one downside is that they have polycrystalline solar cells rather than monocrystalline (which can collect more energy from the sun, even on cloudy days). If you prefer monocrystalline panels, you can get them from Bluetti, but they will cost you almost twice as much money. (Monocrystalline panels also have a longer lifespan and can stand high temperature environment better.)

Note: The Energizer Solar Generator also comes with an MPPT Controller (Maximum Power Point Tracker), which is one of the advantages of buying a pre-built inverter generator.

The MPPT optimizes power output by continually adjusting the electric load so that you get the max output from your poly or mono solar panels. In other words, you can get more energy from the solar cells (even in shady conditions) than without MPPT.
